Artists Cecilia Parsberg and Erik Pauser, in collaboration with architects Haval Murad and David Martinez Escobar, have created an artwork that reflects cracks in modern society. The film-sculpture was first exhibited in central Stockholm in November 2018 before going on tour of public places in cities in Sweden and Europe. The film-sculpture has the form of a house that appears to be sinking into the ground. The bottom side consists of an LED screen where short film A Place in Europeis shown. The film takes place in a forgotten corner of a big city, a place that has become the home of job-seeking migrants who have fallen through the net of European free movement. The narrator Thomas has for three years been sleeping under a loading bridge. Now he’s about to be evicted. He represents those who want to do the right thing: work, support their family, live a worthy life. Watch the film. Nowadays, old poverty is forcing many to become nomads in European cities. We want to set up the House in public places in the central parts of cities to make this situation visible and to include those who have hopes for a better life to become part of society. Konstnärerna Cecilia Parsberg och Erik Pauser har tillsammans med arkitekterna Haval Murad och David Martinez Escobar skapat en konstnärlig gestaltning som speglar sprickor i det moderna samhället. Filmskulpturen Huset startade sin resa under en vecka på Odenplan för att fortsätta på andra offentliga platser i storstäder. Skulpturen har form av ett hus som håller på att sjunka ner i marken. Undersidan består av en LED-skärm där kortfilmen En plats i Europa projiceras. Den handlar om en undanskymd plats i en storstad. En plats som har blivit ett hem för arbetssökande migranter, som fallit mellan stolarna i den europeiska fria rörligheten. Berättaren är Thomas som under tre år har haft sin sovplats tillsammans med råttor under en lastbrygga. Nu ska han vräkas. Han representerar de som vill göra rätt för sig: arbeta, försörja sin familj, leva ett värdigt liv. Se filmen här. En nygammal fattigdom tvingar numer många att bli nomader i Europeiska städer. Vi vill sätta upp Huset på offentliga platser i städers centrala delar för att synliggöra denna situation och inkludera de som har förhoppningar om ett bättre liv att bli del av samtalet.
